ABOUT THE WORK
Hamideh Akbari’s practice focuses on reduction woodcut, informed by the traditions of Mokuhanga. She explores flat areas of colour, the natural grain of the wood, Bokashi gradations and the intensity created by layered printing. Colour plays a central role: by changing combinations and printing sequences, the same carved block can produce distinctly different results. For her, each print becomes a variation rather than a repetition.
