ABOUT THE WORK
Losmân explores the lives of fishermen on the Caspian Sea, where each unsuccessful catch is followed by renewed hope. The Losmân, usually an experienced older fisherman, leads the group by reading the wind, waves and water and directing the work at sea. The series reflects a world shaped by risk, endurance and a sense of timelessness, while also emerging from the artist’s personal distance from Anzali — a familiar place remembered from exile, through the sea, the lagoon and the fishermen’s empty nets.
